Cheesy it may have been, it was still fun, and far better than the later titles (from around 1987), which did little more than play the "classic" tune and show the name of the programme - definitely a disappointing replacement. and the catchy/annoying theme song (so I won't bother reciting it), the Brits really did a fantastic job keeping contestants and fellow viewers entertained with funny quirks and in-jokes. But with a series where even the theme tune is clapped along with, it's an incredibly noisy experience, constant volume taking the place of any genuine wit, very much a Phil Spectorish Wall of Shite. This was almost certainly an attempt at a new version of Blankety Blank, even giving away address books instead of cheque books and pens as consolation prizes, but Fast Friends flopped after only one series, since it had none of Blankety Blank's entertainment value.
