About this deal

By increasing the power and concentration of the airflow, it also reduces the need for more heat. This is better for the environment and your hair. Plus, the reduction in turbulence coupled with ionic technology is what reduces the amount of frizz and flyaways. To keep the price low, there are some compromises with this hair dryer. It doesn’t have the look and feel of more premium hair dryers and the cable is shorter than we’d expect too. On top of that, the filter isn’t removable, which makes cleaning the hair dryer fiddly, but for those on a budget, these compromises are worth making. Keep a look out for tourmaline and ceramic technology. Ceramic will help to distribute the heat more evenly, and the tourmaline is a mineral that'll help to combat frizz by helping to retain some moisture. What hair dryer is best for curly hair? That said, we’ve never had a problem with extra weight on the GHD Air because the dryer is so well-balanced. The extra weight even gave the GHD Air dryer a reassuring heft that made it feel expensive. This is missing somewhat with the GHD Helios. The Helios, in terms of weight, feels like many other dryers on the market. Even though it costs up to 10 times as much. The magnetic concentrator and diffuser attachments fit on, and can be removed, without too much force; the magnets also mean the attachments stay put while drying instead of turning and moving. Other features of the Supersonic include flexible speed and heat settings, and thermal sensors to prevent the unit or attachments getting too hot.

The nozzle on the GHD Helios has been redesigned and it noticeably curves at the end – similar to wingtips on planes. This slight lip reduces air turbulence and creates a precise flow of air towards the hair. To achieve a salon-worthy finish, the ghd air® hair dryer is the perfect addition to your tool kit. This professional hair dryer has a powerful 2,100W motor for faster styling, so you have more time to conquer the world. Lightweight and ergonomically balanced, this professional hair dryer is an everyday styling essential.Everything else, including the placement of the two-speed and dual-temperature switches, the cold shot button and the branded grille are almost an exact copy and paste from the Air. Performance In terms of popularity, hair dryers arguably beat the best hair straighteners as the ultimate hair tool we'd invest in. But with such a wide range of options, from simple, "gets the job done" tools to powerful, high-spec options like the Dyson Supersonic, where do you start? Drying time: The GHD Helios dries our hair from wet from the shower to dry in one minute and six seconds, on average. The Dyson Supersonic review dries our hair (on average) in 2 minutes and 6 seconds. At launch, it was considered a game changer, and it’s a testament to that dryer’s quality that eight years on it’s still considered one of the best hair dryers on the market. That said, many of GHD’s rivals have caught up, selling dryers with similar – and in some regards better – performance for a cheaper price. As well as three heat and two speed options, there’s a cool shot and a booster button that ramps up the airflow for fast rough drying. We did find this makes the dryer noisier, but not to the extent that we felt the need to apologise to our neighbours. It comes with two styling nozzles and one diffuser – generous considering the price –and yielded a nice daily blow-dry in as much time as you would expect from any dryer.

The sacrifice you make for the GHD Helios’ increased speed, it seems, is in volume and bounce. Something that not a single dryer has been able to match when compared to the Revlon 2-in-1 Overall, with the GHD Helios, you can expect your hair to be dried in record time with natural volume, stunning shine and a smoothness like no other. Its price point places it firmly in the premium hair dryer category, but it’s an investment your hair will thank you for.

One of the easiest things to overlook when buying a hair dryer is how long the cable is. Some cheaper models come with relatively short cables, while pricier models often boast “salon-length” mains cables, which are as long as 4m. Also, consider whether you want a hair dryer that has ‘iconic technology’. These hair dryers usually feature tourmaline elements, and as we’ve already mentioned release negative ions to speed up evaporation and reduce flyaway strands, but some will also eject positive ions that can be used to boost the volume at the roots of the hair. Make every day a good hair day with the professional ghd hair dryer range. Employing the latest technology, our hair dryer range guarantees the best results in half the time and without the frizz/with reduced frizz. Each product in the collection is designed to achieve beautiful hairstyles that stand out, from straight, sleek and glossy, to beautiful, bouncing curls. Conquer frizz and flyaways with advanced ionic technology and a bespoke contoured nozzle to ensure a concentrated, even airflow, resulting in a beautifully smooth finish with 3x more hair alignment*. Lightweight and ergonomically balanced with bespoke acoustic technology for low sound levels during use, the ghd helios™ is designed for ultimate ease of use. And for 24 hour volume hold*** pair the ghd helios™ with ghd body goals - total volume foam.

Depending on how hot the dryer gets this could cause unnecessary damage. GHD Helios technology: Why is it so good? Although the heat and power settings are the same between the two models, the GHD Helios has had a motor boost – 2,200W up from the Air’s 2,100W. This exceeds the power of the Nanoe and the Dyson by 400W and 600W respectively but this is largely moot. As the Dyson proved with its 1,600W motor, it’s not the amount of power but rather what the dryer does with it that counts. Simply blasting air as fast and as hot as possible at your hair won’t give you the desired effect. It will cause turbulence and leave your hair frizzy and dry. And that brings us onto the GHD Helios’ performance. GHD Helios review: Performance GHD claims its Helios is “faster, lighter and quieter” than the Air. We’ve already confirmed it’s lighter, but does it live up to the other claims? Yes – very much so! Its motor is marginally more powerful – up from 2,100w on the Air to 2,200w – and the holes in its grille have apparently been redesigned to reduce noise. It is noticeably less loud in real-world use, and when measured with a decibel meter, it’s a whole two decibels quieter than the Air. That said because the nozzle is longer and thinner than on the GHD Air the shaft length is ever-so-slightly too long for our arms. This is a minor complaint. Plus, because less heat is needed to dry the hair, it is possible to place the dryer closer to your scalp so it’s less of an issue than it may first seem. It’s worth noting though. Particularly if you have long hair, your arms will start to ache.Call it the tech takeover of beauty, call it the pink tax; whatever’s happened, hair dryer price tags have been on a steep incline for a few years now. That doesn’t mean, however, that you can’t find something great at a price that doesn’t require a few deep breaths before you hit "add to basket". Allow us to present the Remington Thermacare Pro 2400. Despite the smaller number of settings, it’s the drying power that sets the Helios apart from the rest: the 2,200W motor rivals the Dyson Supersonic in its drying time and ability to deliver a frizz-free finish, which is no easy feat for a hair dryer that costs half the price. That’s thanks to GHD’s AutoPrecis technology creating a blast of focused air that travels at 75mph, as well as the concentrator nozzle that precisely directs airflow for a smooth blow dry. Create gorgeous waves and enhance your natural curls with a diffuser or style a straight, sleek and smooth look with a concentrated nozzle. Adjustable heat and speed settings allow you to choose the perfect setting for your hair type and specific needs. If you’re wanting a little more, some will come with a range of attachments – from diffusers to nozzles – which help to dry your hair at a faster speed, define curls or smooth down frizzy flyaways.
