About this deal

When discussing the synthetic benchmarks, we already mentioned the option to connect an external graphics card via Thunderbolt. But in the pure gaming tests, the configuration using the Razer Core X and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Tiis unable to deliver a convincing performance. Unfortunately, the limited bandwidth of the external PCI Express connection is demanding its due. We've seen the Ryzen 7 7735HS before in other Mini PCs, and it's a very impressive processor offering eight cores and sixteen threads and a default TDP range of 35 to 54W. As this isn't a laptop with a battery, this version gets to use its full 54W envelope, and it also gets the benefit of not using the Radeon 680M integrated GPU but the independently powered RX 6600M. A cookie set by YouTube to measure bandwidth that determines whether the user gets the new or old player interface. We continue the MinisForum HX99G review with an overview of the technical specifications and some tests. CPU

And at 720P we can see that while the HX99G Ryzen mini PC remains in second place, there is only a few frames per second difference between it and the NUCXi7. Gaming Benchmarks Summary The only downside in this context to the RX 6600M is that its power demands are much greater than the rest of the system, and Minisforum supplies a very large PSU rated for a maximum output of 262.2W. We've seen plenty of brands brandishing the word 'Game' for Mini systems when they've only integrated GPUs. And while these have been getting progressively better, they don't yet compete with even the lowest rung on the discrete graphics card ladder. Visually, there are hardly any differences between the Minisforum Neptune Series HX90Gand the Minisforum Neptune Series HX99G. The case continues to be constructed mainly from plastic, with some added small Carbon visual elements. Internally, there is also some metal, which supports the stability. The workmanship of our test unit is good, although we would have also appreciated a higher quality selection of materials. With the Minisforum Neptune Series NAD9, the manufacturer already proved that things can also be done differently. The computer includes a stand that allows you to place it vertically on the desk. But you don't have to use it, since you can also operate the device horizontally without any problems. During the synthetic performance comparison, our test unit places only in the lower middle of the comparison field. The age of the AMD Radeon RX 6600Mis noticeable at this point, and the successors based on RDNA-3 are getting ready. Those who still need a higher 3D performance can use the Thunderbolt connection, which is currently only offered in the HX99G of the series. We got to work and documented the performance in combination with the Razer Core X and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. With that, we achieve a performance in our comparison that corresponds to that of the Minisforum NUCXi7with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop. At the same time, you still have to make do with significant performance limitations, since using Thunderbolt, the external graphics card is only connected via 4 PCI Express lanes. Minisforum introduced a new variant called HX99G in its Neptune portfolio today. It is an upgraded version of the first member, the HX90G (5900HX processor + RX6600M GPU), which was announced in May 2022 before going up for sale in September 2022. The Neptune HX99G looks practically identical to the HX90G. Measuring 205 x 203 x 69 mm (8.1" x 8" x 2.7"), both models feature 45 watts, 8-cores/16-threads graphics and the same laptop-class discrete GPU. However, it updates the Ryzen 9 5900HX with a faster Ryzen 9 6900HX and replaces the two DP ports with two speedier USB4 ports.
